Extravaganza 2022 Update: Vaccines or Recent COVID Test to be Required

Hello friends,

The ELCA Youth Ministry Network has made the decision to require onsite Extravaganza 2022 participants to have COVID vaccinations, or a negative COVID test no more than 72 hours prior to the start of the event, in order to participate.  We ask our onsite registrants to be prepared to show proof of vaccination or a negative test when you check in at the event. For more details on our exact Extravaganza COVID policy, you can find it at elcaymnet.org/COVID.

We have been closely tracking the spread of the virus, as well as the recommendations of the CDC, the Minnesota Department of Health and the Hennepin County Health Department.  We have also been paying attention to other organizations holding events this winter and their best practices.

Ultimately, this was an easy decision to make.  We believe that requiring vaccines or a negative test is the way that we can best show love to God, and to our neighbor.

We strongly believe that by making this decision now, we can put you in the best possible position to make a decision about participating in Extravaganza 2022.

We understand that for a small number of you who are choosing not to vaccinate, this may put you in a difficult position.  If you choose to cancel your registration, we understand.  You can contact our registrar, Laurie Hoium to either change your registration from in-person to online, or you can request and receive a full refund.  Laurie can be reached at registrar@elcaymnet.org.

If you’d like to learn more about the event, and registration, please go to ext22.org.

Our deepest hope and our prayer is that as we move into Fall, the COVID numbers continue to improve and that health and healing take place. However, right now the effects of the pandemic still surround us.  Please continue to pray for those who are sick and in need of healing.  Pray for medical professionals in their work.  Pray for our communities and our nation and pray for our church as we seek wisdom to make decisions that care for all of God’s people.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  I can be reached at todd@elcaymnet.org.

God’s blessings,
