Extravaganza 2025 in Louisville, Kentucky, was a time of connection, inspiration, and growth for the ELCA Youth Ministry Network. With 547 participants joining both in-person and online, and a 41.2% response rate to the evaluation survey, we were able to gather valuable insights to help us celebrate what went well and understand where we can continue to grow and improve the event.
Thanks to all of you who participated in the evaluations. 41.2% is a great response rate. That, by itself, tells us how important this event is to all who were a part of it.
What You Loved
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and it’s clear that the Extravaganza continues to be a vital and important experience for many. The overall likelihood of recommending the event to a friend reached an impressive score of 9.15 (out of 10), with a Net Promoter Score of 72, marking it as an excellent event. Those who came to the 2025 E appreciated the opportunity to network, experience personal renewal, and learn from exceptional speakers. Many noted the powerful impact of the main stage speakers, highlighting their courage and authenticity. The workshops and keynote sessions were also praised for their relevance and inspiration.
Participants expressed gratitude for the event’s thoughtful planning, including the balance of worship, teaching, and moments of fun, which brought laughter and community spirit. The updated event app received positive feedback for its user-friendly design, enhancing the overall experience. Many expressed a sense of renewal and felt more connected to their peers, which speaks to the heart of what the Extravaganza is all about.
Keynote speakers like Kara Powell and Pam Miles, Rozella Haydée White and Prairie Rose Seminole, and musician Jennifer Knapp were deeply appreciated.
What We Can Do Better
As with any event, there’s always room for growth, and we are committed to listening and learning. A recurring theme in the feedback was the desire for more trauma-informed approaches, especially when sharing powerful personal stories on the main stage.
There was also feedback about the worship sessions. Some attendees wanted them to feel more cohesive and traditional, especially when including communion. We also heard that while the music and band were phenomenal, we need to keep looking for ways to engage the whole group in participation.
Another area for improvement is the balance of workshop topics. While the variety was appreciated, several attendees noted that some workshops were not as relevant to their ministry contexts. Specifically, more content tailored for those working with smaller youth groups, children’s ministry, or neurodiverse children was requested.
Creating a More “Networked” Experience
Additionally, several attendees suggested enhancements to the networking experience, particularly for first-timers and introverts. Ideas included more structured opportunities to connect regionally and intentional spaces for conversation during meals.

We want you to know that your voices have been heard. The ELCA Youth Ministry Network is committed to making the Extravaganza an event where all feel welcomed, inspired, and equipped for ministry. We are already considering your feedback as we plan for the next gathering in St. Louis.
