This winter, two new people will take on important roles on the Board of Directors of the ELCA Youth Ministry Network.
Sue Megrund and Tom Schwolert will each be completing their second term at Extravaganza 2020 in Anaheim. Board members may serve a maximum of two terms.
The Board is responsible for tending to the mission, vision and goals of the the Network. They meet three times a year, once in the spring, again in the fall and a brief meeting prior to the Extravaganza. Occasional online meetings may also be scheduled as needed.
This past spring, in preparation for the nomination process, the board completed a self-assessment and determined the following needs in leadership for the Network. We are seeking individuals who:
- Fits into the culture and the ethos of the board
- are in their first five years of ministry
- Have a deep understanding of faith formation across the age spectrum
- Understand finance and financial systems
- Have an understanding of ministry in rural or small congregations
- Have worked in outdoor ministry
Obviously, the goal is not to find one or two individuals who fulfill all of these needs. But these are areas in which we would like to see continued growth as a board, and individuals who help us in these areas would benefit the whole of the Network.
Both nominations of others and self-nominations are equally encouraged.
More information on the work of the board can be found at the board’s page on the Network web site.

Blessings as you discern!
