New, and Renewed Board Members

I’m excited to announce the appointment of a new member of the Network’s Board of Directors and a reappointment of a member.

Jeremy

Dr. Jeremy Myers, who teaches in the youth and family ministry program at Augsburg College in Minneapolis has been appointed to a 3-year term to the board.

Jeremy is married to Tracie, and they have two children.  They live in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Jeremy is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, and then received both his master’s degree and his Ph.D at Luther Seminary in St. Paul.  Prior to moving back to the Twin Cities to do his academic work, Jeremy worked in a congregation in Valparaiso, Indiana and in Fridley, Minnesota.  In Indiana, Jeremy was a part of the Youth Ministry Spirituality Project.  Jeremy has been a part of the Network’s Connect Journal team and the Practice Discipleship Initiative.

Valerie Taylor-Samuel has been reappointed to a second 3-year term on the Board.  Valerie is a volunteer youth minister at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Philadelphia, PA.  She also works as a librarian in the Philadelphia Public Library system.

Valerie

Jeremy will be filling the seat being left open by Rev. Larry Wagner, senior pastor at Ascension Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks, California. Larry has completed two terms and is ineligible for reappointment.

We are grateful to Larry for his great work on the board, serving for several years as the chairperson of the board.  And we’re grateful to Valerie for being willing to serve a second term, as well as Jeremy for bringing his gifts to our board.

Thanks to the members of our nominating committee, Yvonne Steindal, Julie Miller, Lisa Gray, Jamie Travers and Manuel Retamoza for all of their hard work.
